Very early in the week, on Tuesday night, was the launch of Maxim Magazine Australia at The Museum of Sydney. Despite the heavy rain and wind, it attracted over 300 guests spreading over 2 floors of the Musuem. Guests included celebs from the film, television, music, sport, radio and fashion industries, like Kyle Sandilands (who believes Maxim is the one!), Brad Fittler, Nate Myles, Todd Carney, Jesinta Campbell, Josh Flinn, Scott Cam, Nikki Phillips, Chris Stafford, Zoe Badwi, Wes Carr, Mike Goldman and Krystal Forscutt.
This was one of few events, I've been to where the male guests dominated, though of course, it is expected since it's a men's interest magazine. With the closure of Alpha and Ralph Magazine in Australia, Maxim will be one of few men's interest magazines in the country that will reach the target audience of men aged between 18-39. It will be interesting to see how Maxim does in comparison to similar magazines that have folded.
Upon entering the museum, guests were greeted with tall, skinny, tanned models in bold red, body suits with killer heels and long wavy hair, even one posed and sat on a red hot Victory Motorcycle. It's not the usual event I'd go to, but always in to experience! It was definitely the party to be at on the night, and guests had the fun of taking photobooth photos dressing up and posing with devilish props by Polite in Public as a souvenir. Many events are now adopting photobooths (eg at Ultimat Vodka Event here and here) and I am really liking the idea of it.
"Andrew Voss, officially welcomed guests to the party before introducing Nuclear Media Managing Director Michael Downs, MAXIM Australia Editor-in-Chief Santi Pintado, and the MAXIM 5 models, who will feature in the magazine." The night launched the first issue of Maxim Australia with Jennifer Hawkins as the cover girl.
Some yummy canapes like tuna with pickled ginger and wakame salad, crisp pork belly with vanilla infused apple sauce, and grilled haloumi spears with lemon myrtle (so good) were catered by Toast Food catered to fill our stomachs. Plus, a very delcious custom created cocktail by The Russian Standard Red Devil custom that had a racy combination of Russian Standard Gold and raspberry gelato, garnished with ruby red craisins.
DJ duo The Faders and Australian singer Zoe Badwi kept us entertained with beats going into the night.
